(Washington, DC) -- The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to begin roadway repaving work on I Street NW from 13th Street NW to Pennsylvania Avenue NW starting on the night of Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

The contractor is authorized to work at night, Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.  Construction is scheduled to be completed by Friday, May 21, 2021, weather permitting.

Work will include asphalt milling and overlay. Work crews will be closing lanes but at least one lane will remain open at all times.  Arrow boards will be used to alert traffic and to protect the workers.

Curbside parking will not be allowed in the work zone.  Parking restriction signs will be posted at least 72 hours in advance at locations where parking will be restricted. The emergency “NO PARKING” signs will notify the hours of operation, dates, and duration of work and information on the engineer in charge.

Traffic control devices will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling around this work location, be prepared for possible detours and to be observant of the work zone. Cyclists should be prepared to adjust their route accordingly in the work zone. Metro bus lines along I Street will continue their routes with minimum impact to service.  Flaggers will be available to manage traffic in the work zone.
