Temporary Closure of Rock Creek Park Western Ridge Trail Starting March 31, 2021

(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is advising all stakeholders to expect the temporary closure of the Rock Creek Park Western Ridge Trail between Porter Street NW to Bluffs Footbridge along Beach Drive NW. The trail closure will begin on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, weather permitting, and be in place for approximately seven months.

This trail closure is necessary to reconstruct the existing Western Ridge Trail as part of the Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and Pedestrian Bridge project.

Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to detour trail users through the work zone. Trail users will be detoured to the Rock Creek Park Trail along Beach Drive NW.

Once completed, the Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and Pedestrian Bridge project will improve accessibility and connectivity to Rock Creek Park with improvements such as new and reconstructed trail segment, and a new 110-foot pedestrian bridge south of the Zoo Tunnel.
