Temporary Lane Closures for New York Avenue Sign Structure Improvement Project from March 29 through April 2, 2021

(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the right shoulder of the Service Road along inbound New York Avenue NE (westbound) to perform construction activities for the replacement of signage and sign structures beginning March 29 through April 2, 2021, weather permitting.

Access to the service road will be maintained at all times. Work is scheduled to take place daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2, 2021.

These closure dates and times are contingent on suitable weather, field conditions, and/or adjacent construction activities.

These closures are required for construction activities associated with the following DDOT project:

Interstate 395 Sign Structure Improvement Project (including New York Avenue NE)

The Interstate 395 (I-395) Sign Structure project focuses on the replacement and repair of existing sign structures along the I-395 corridor, including one location on New York Avenue NE. This includes the corridor-wide furnishing and installation of overhead traffic guide signs (sign mounting structures and panels), electrical systems, and lighting fixtures. There will also be the removal of existing overhead signs, sign structures, and electrical systems. The project will provide corridor wide improvements to the guide signing and lighting between the 12^th Street Expressway and D Street SW.

Motorists are urged to use caution as they travel in these areas, to anticipate moderate delays, and to be mindful of construction personnel.
