Temporary Road Closures on 44th St NW Starting March 19, 2021 for Emergency Culvert and Roadway Reconstruction

(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close 44th St. NW from Forest Lane NW to Edmunds Street NW starting March 19, 2021 for safety reasons because of a culvert and roadway collapse. DDOT is finalizing the design works and will soon start construction work to replace the deteriorated and undersized culvert during the closure; work will last through the summer.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas and guide to bypass the closure using Garfield Street, Foxhall Road. and Edmonds Street NW. Drivers are advised to take an alternate route or alternate travel times to avoid delays. Please stay and be observant while traveling through these locations.
