Dear Washingtonians,
We know: the time for DC statehood is now. The time to end the disenfranchisement of more than 700,000 taxpaying Americans is now.
For 220 years, the injustice of taxation without representation has lived on in Washington, DC. But now our nation has the opportunity, and a clear path forward, to finally right this wrong. With the passage of H.R. 51 in the 116th Congress, DC came closer than ever before to statehood. Now, we carry that momentum into Monday's hearing on the Washington, DC Admission Act.
We are prepared, once again, to make the case for statehood. I hope you will join me by watching the hearing and sharing your own #DCStatehood stories.
Sincerely,
Mayor Bowser and DC Health are calling on Washingtonians to help their friends, family, and neighbors pre-register for a vaccination appointment.
