Message from Lucinda, the Deputy Mayor
Hello DC, and welcome to the inaugural issue of the DMOI Digest! Our goal for this twice-yearly newsletter is to shine the light on some great ways our cluster agencies are serving District residents and businesses. We really had to reimagine our services over the last year to keep you, and our employees safe in the face of a worldwide pandemic. Thank you for your patience and flexibility. And thanks to our DMOI Cluster agency employees, whom Mayor Bowser and I recently acknowledged in an appreciation video. Now, we are turning the corner, and the spring holds great promise as the District reopens!
At the same time, we are deep into budget season, which is more consequential than ever. As always, the Mayor’s budget will be laser focused on key priorities for District residents and businesses. Another key goal is analyzing the best use of federal funds to mitigate the fiscal impact of the pandemic.
Well, until next time—Be safe, stay healthy, get your vaccine, and be blessed!

Lucinda Helped DC Give Tribute to 'Hidden Figure'
On February 26, Lucinda gave tribute on behalf of Mayor Bowser at the NASA building naming ceremony for the "Hidden Figure" Mary W. Jackson NASA Headquarters. Lucinda remarked that Jackson turned the system " inside out, so that more African Americans and women could excel. As a result, successful Black women are no longer Hidden Figures. They are very visible monuments to success."
