Update on DC Government Employee Eligibility for COVID-19 Vaccine
The Mayor and DC Health announced that beginning Thursday, February 18, individuals who work in four categories will become newly eligible to book vaccination appointments through vaccinate.dc.gov or by calling the District’s coronavirus Call Center at (855) 363-0333. These newly eligible categories include:
Individuals who work in a grocery store setting,
Outreach workers in health, human, and social services,
Individuals who work in manufacturing, and
Individuals who work in food packaging.
This means that the District has now opened eligibility to the remaining groups within Phase 1b Tiers 2 and 3 of its phased roll-out plan.
DC Government employees, contractors, partners, and volunteers are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination if you are part of one of the following groups, or currently working in person at / physically reporting to any of the following settings:
Any DC resident who is 65 years or older is eligible for vaccination regardless of employment status. DC Residents 16 to 64with qualifying Phase 1c Tier 1 medical conditions will be able to make appointments beginning Thursday, February 25.
These employees should schedule an appointment through vaccinate.dc.govor by calling the District’s coronavirus Call Center at (855) 363-0333.
Individuals working in health care settings, including:
District-run clinics and Saint Elizabeths Hospital
COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites
District-owned animal shelter
Individuals working for Fire & Emergency Medical Services (FEMS), the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), or Department of Corrections (DOC) OR working in public safety settings, including:
Firehouses and FEMS central offices
Police stations and MPD headquarters
DC Jail
DYRS youth detention facilities
Protective Services Division staff
Individuals working in school and childcare settings, including:
DC Public Schools (DCPS) school sites
Public Charter Schools (PCS) school sites
District-run childcare sites, including active Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) Cooperative Play Program sites
These employees should contact their supervisors for further information on scheduling an appointment.
Individuals working in residential care settings, including:
DC Housing Authority (DCHA) senior housing facilities
District-supported group homes
Individuals working in emergency and low barrier homelessness services settings, including:
Hypothermia shelters
Low barrier shelters, such as 801 East and Harriet Tubman
Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV) site
Individuals working in health and human services outreach, including:
COVID-19, clinical, and public health outreach, such as Vaccine Buddies
Homelessness outreach, such as Street Outreach
Public safety outreach, such as Violence Interrupters, Cure the Streets, and Roving Leaders
Senior outreach, such as DCHA and Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) check-ins
In-home and on-site crisis services for vulnerable/at-risk children, youth, families, and individuals
Individuals working in grocery settings and food packaging, including:
DACL senior meal delivery program
DCPS meal program
Human Services meal program
These employees should schedule an appointment through vaccinate.dc.govor by calling the District’s coronavirus Call Center at (855) 363-0333.
Many individuals in these groups, or individuals currently working in person at these settings, have received specific instructions for how to schedule a vaccination appointment.
If you are one of these individuals, and have not received specific instructions, please speak with your supervisor.

At 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 25, new appointments will become available on vaccinate.dc.gov and the District’s coronavirus Call Center ONLY for eligible individuals (in any category) who are DC residents currently living in this week’s target ZIP codes – 20422, 20011, 20017, 20018, 20002, 20001, 200019, 20020, 20032, 20593.
At 9:00 a.m., on Friday, February 26, new appointments will become available on vaccinate.dc.gov and the District’s coronavirus Call Center for all eligible DC residents and individuals who work in the District.
