Highlights (January 18-January 29)
Highlights include:
- Since March 30, the COVID-19 Health and Medical Branch has continued to support COVID-19 diagnostic sampling in the District, as of January 27, the District has supported 425,797 samples. The number of samples has increased by 26,882 since last reported on January 13.
- As of January 23, the District has administered 51,421 doses of COVID vaccine. This District is now vaccinating several groups in the Phase 1b Tier 2 group, including this week, vaccinating staff working in K-12 educational facilities.
- Each week, the District opens more vaccine appointments for residents 65 and older at vaccinate.dc.gov or by calling 1-855-363-0333. Currently, appointments open on Thursday at 9:00 am for priority zip codes and additional appointments released on Friday at 9:00 am for all DC zip codes.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The District’s reported data for Thursday, January 28, 2021 includes 282 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 36,414.
The District reported that five additional residents lost their lives due to COVID-19.
- 63-year-old female
- 68-year-old female
- 73-year-old male
- 81-year-old female
- 91-year-old male
Tragically, 907 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
