This is the COVID-19 Recap newsletter which is distributed bi-weekly on Fridays.
Within each issue, you will find highlights from the Health and Medical Branch, links to recent Mayor Bowser situational updates and coronavirus (COVID-19) data.

Highlights (December 7-December 18)
Highlights include:
- Since March 30, the COVID-19 Health and Medical Branch has continued to support COVID-19 diagnostic sampling in the District, as of December 16, the District has supported 327,563 samples. The number of samples has increased by 37,451 since last reported on December 02.
- On Friday, December 11, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine became the first vaccination in the United States to receive Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- The District received its first allocation of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine between Monday-Wednesday, December 14-16. The Districts initial allocation of 6,825 doses was shipped directly to six hospital sites where health care providers and first responders became the first in the District to receive this vaccine.

Today's Press Release and Data
(WASHINGTON, DC) –The District’s reported data for Thursday, December 17, 2020 includes 274 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 26,104. Read the full press release here.
