Temporary Lane Closure of Howard Road SE under I-295 on November 23 and 24, 2020, and November 29 through December 7, 2020  

 

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close Howard Road SE between the WMATA Parking garage and Firth Sterling Avenue, SE nightly on Monday, November 23rd, 2020 and Tuesday, November 24th, 2020, from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am the following morning. These nightly closures will continue from Sunday, November 29th, 2020 through Monday morning, December 7th, 2020.

 

This closure is a result of the reconstruction of the I-295/ Howard Road, SE interchange, and necessary for construction activities associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project which includes construction of the New Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, as shown in the below graphic. A marked detour will be in place during the closure.

 

Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to stay alert and follow signage when traveling through this area.
