DDOT Traffic Advisory:  Temporary Lane Closures on I-395/I-695 for Sign Structure Replacements from Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 13, 2020

 Temporary Lane Closures on I-395/I-695 for Sign Structure Replacements from Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 13, 2020  

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close lanes and shoulders on the following roadways to perform construction activities along I-395 for sign structure replacements.

The following lane and shoulder closures will be in place daily from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday, November 9^th through Friday, November 13^th, 2020 weather permitting.

I-395/I-695 Southbound/Westbound 

• Single left lane (Access Freeway to Maine Avenue) closure between 12^th Street SW Expressway ramp and 7th Street SW.
• Single left lane closure between 12^th Street SW Expressway and 6^th Street SW.

I-395/I-695 Northbound/Eastbound  

• Single right lane closure between 12^th Street SW Expressway and 7^th Street SW.

Interstate 395 Sign Structure Improvement Project

The Interstate 395 (I-395) Sign Structure project focuses on the replacement and repair of existing sign structures along the I-395 corridor. This includes the corridor-wide furnishing and installation of overhead traffic guide signs (sign mounting structures and panels), electrical systems, and lighting fixtures. There will also be the removal of existing overhead signs, sign structures, and electrical systems. The project will provide corridor wide improvements to the guide signing and lighting between the 12^th Street Expressway and D Street, SW.

Motorists are urged to use caution as they travel in these areas, to anticipate moderate delays, and to be mindful of construction personnel.
