Temporary Lane Closures on Northbound South Capitol Street SE  from November 14 to 15, 2020 and November 21 to 22, 2020

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close lanes on northbound South Capitol St., SE at Potomac Ave., SE on two consecutive weekends beginning November 14-15, 2020, and November 21-22, 2020; weather permitting.

These closures are shown in the following graphic.  Northbound traffic crossing the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge (FDMB) will be channeled into the right lane prior to Potomac Avenue, SE. All traffic will turn right onto Potomac Avenue, SE, then follow First Street, SE and M Street, SE back to northbound South Capitol Street, SE.

The detour route will be posted with signs advising drivers of the route.  All traffic is advised to proceed with caution and SLOW DOWN through the construction zone.

This closure is a result of the reconstruction of the I-295/ Suitland Parkway interchange associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project which includes construction of the New Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.
