The Flu Vaccine is Safe and Now Available at the F Street Testing Site
Reducing the spread of respiratory illnesses, like influenza (flu), this fall and winter is more important than ever. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends an annual flu vaccine as the best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and spread it to others.
Q: Why is the flu vaccine especially important this year?
A: It’s likely that influenza (flu) viruses and the virus that causes COVID-19 will both spread this fall and winter. Getting the flu or COVID-19 can cause serious illness; catching both at the same time can make you very ill.
Q: Is the flu vaccine safe?
A: Flu vaccines are safe and will not cause flu illness.
Q: Do I need to get vaccinated even if I got vaccinated last year?
A: Flu viruses are constantly changing, so flu vaccines may be updated from one season to the next to protect against the viruses that will be common during the upcoming flu season. Your protection from a flu vaccine declines over time. Yearly vaccination is needed for the best protection.
Q: Who should get the flu vaccine?
A: Everyone six months and older should get a flu vaccine.
