Asphalt Resurfacing of New York Avenue NW on October 12, 2020
(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to begin final asphalt surfacing of New York Avenue NW between First Street NW and 4th Street NW on or about October 12, 2020, weather permitting.
DDOT advises motorists to expect lane closures and parking restrictions. Temporary lane closures will take place during off-peak hours, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This work is a part of the Safety Improvements on New Jersey Avenue NW project, and is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Traffic controls will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone safely. Motorists should expect delays due to the lane closures and are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and road work crews while traveling in this area.
Curbside parking may also be restricted while work is underway. Emergency No Parking signs will be posted a minimum of 72 hours before the start of construction. Sidewalk detours will also be in place while the work is in progress. Signage and protective barriers will be used to maintain public safety.
