Temporary Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Inspections 

 

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections:

 

Westbound and eastbound Virginia Avenue Tunnel under 23rd Street closure alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures on Sunday, September 20, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Westbound E Street Expressway under Virginia Ave., and 23rd Street alternating right and left lane closures on Monday, September 21, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Mall Tunnel 3rd Street southbound left lane closure then shifting to a right lane closure on Tuesday September 22, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Thomas Circle Tunnel Underpass Massachusetts Ave NW eastbound closure on Wednesday September 23rd, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Eastbound Barney Circle Ramp Southeast Blvd. right lane closure then shifting to a left lane closure on Thursday September 24th, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate lite-to-moderate delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
