September 18, 2019 | Vol. 5, Issue 38
Dear Washingtonians,
In 2016, Washingtonians went to the polls and voted overwhelmingly to make Washington, DC the 51st state in the nation. Three years later, the momentum for DC statehood is at an all-time high. And, tomorrow, I will testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform in favor of H.R. 51, the DC statehood bill. On behalf of DC, I will send a clear message to Congress and to our fellow Americans: The time for statehood is now. The time to end taxation without representation for more than 700,000 Americans living in the shadow of Congress and in the capital of the free world is now.
Congress is empowered to fix the great injustice happening in Washington, DC, and tomorrow I will petition them to do just that.
I hope you will support us by watching and sharing the hearing, by spreading the word about #DCStatehood on social media, and by reaching out to your friends and family across the U.S. and asking them to join our fight.
DC, let's come for what is due to us.
Sincerely,
