Letter from the Mayor

Dear Washingtonians,

I want to thank everyone who came out to this year's Budget Engagement Forums. The feedback we received was valuable—it will guide our ongoing budget conversations and help us make the tough decisions that we face every budget season.

Of course, as we close out our Budget Engagement Forums and as Fair Shot February comes to end, we know that this work continues year-round. While the budget is where we make big investments, all year, we work to get those funds out the door and into projects and initiatives that benefit District residents. And all year, we work with our community partners to ensure that Washingtonians know about the many programs and resources available to them across all eight wards.

Just this week, for example, we extended free rides on the DC Circulator through March. We also announced free one-year memberships to Capital Bikeshare for District Veterans. Help us  spread the word

Also, as tax season continues, help us spread the word about the new Early Learning Tax Credit that I created in last year's budget. This tax credit is one more tool for making it more affordable to raise a family in Washington, DC. Every year, we encourage Washingtonians to check whether they are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. This year, we are also urging you to pay attention to the Early Learning Tax Credit; by taking advantage of this credit, families can receive up to $1,000 per eligible child.

By spreading the word about the tools and resources we're putting in place to better meet the needs of District residents, we're going to get more Washingtonians the fair shot they deserve—this month and every month.

Sincerely,

Muriel Bowser

New App Alert: My DPW

My DPW

The Bowser Administration has launched "MyDPW" - a new mobile app that allows residents to receive alerts about when to move their vehicles ahead of weekly residential street sweeping. The app is designed for residents who frequently park on residential streets, allowing them to receive alerts about the specific blocks they select.

In addition to alerts about street sweeping, the mobile app allows residents to sign up for DPW’s existing booting/towing and leaf collection alerts. Residents who have already signed up to receive these alerts will not need to re-register, although downloading the app is recommended for ease of use.

The mobile app can be downloaded from the AppStore and GooglePlay, and can be found using the search terms “MyDPW” or “DC MyDPW.”
