Vision Zero Rules of the Road

vision zero logo

Vision Zero represents the District's goal of reducing traffic fatalities to zero.

It's illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana. While possession of small amounts of marijuana is legal in the District of Columbia for adults 21 years of age or older, driving impaired by any substance is not only extremely dangerous, but against the law!

Be sure to always operate your motor vehicle safely and responsibly.

We are counting on you to do your part to keep us all safe!

Human Trafficking is a Modern Day Crime

January is human trafficking month

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has designated the month of January as Human Trafficking Month. According to DHS, "Human trafficking is modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked in countries around the world, including the United States. It is estimated that human trafficking generates billions of dollars of profit per year, second only to drug trafficking as the most profitable form of transnational crime.

Human trafficking is a hidden crime as victims rarely come forward to seek help because of language barriers, fear of the traffickers, and/or fear of law enforcement. The Blue Campaign is the unified voice for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) efforts to combat human trafficking. Working in collaboration with law enforcement, government, non-governmental and private organizations, the Blue Campaign strives to protect the basic right of freedom and to bring those who exploit human lives to justice."
