2019 Inauguration Events

On Tuesday, January 1, Mayor Bowser will kick off the 2019 Inauguration schedule. The celebration will commemorate the inauguration of Mayor Muriel Bowser, who is the first woman to be re-elected as the mayor of Washington, DC. All events are open to the public.

Veteran-Owned Business Stakeholder Meeting

The next Veteran Business Stakeholder Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at 441 4th Street, NW Washington, D.C. 20001. This is a great opportunity for us to engage with  Veteran Small Business Owners and listen to the needs of the community. Following the format of past meetings, we’ll continue to provide resources in the form of guest speakers from government agencies and small business development organizations. MOVA is working to provide greater resources to the veteran small business community in 2019.

TOPIC: Business Opportunities with D.C. Government

The focus of this months meeting is to distribute information and available opportunities for startups and long-term entrepreneurs that are interested in doing business with the District of Columbia Government

Guest speakers include representatives from DC Office of Contracts and Procurement and the Department of General Services

D.C. Vocational Rehabilitation For Disabled Veterans

The District of Columbia Department of Disability Services has partnered with the Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs to provide dedicated vocational rehabilitation assistance to our veteran community. This program is separate and apart from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' vocational rehabilitation program.  If you have been denied or are currently using the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' program, you may still be eligible for District assistance.  Come speak with one of our counselors!

Tuesday, January 8, 2019, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm 

Scheduling:

You can schedule an appointment by calling our office at 202-724-5454.  You can also walk-in on the days the counselor has office hours. Please note, however, appointments will be seen before walk-ins and space is limited.

Our Round Table event is back by popular demand!

The Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs will be holding our first round table of the New Year on Thursday, January 31, 2018.  The meeting will be held in room 1114 at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th St. NW.

The Advisory Board serves as an advisory body to the Mayor, the Mayor's Office of Boards and Commissions, the Office of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Employment Services, the Department of Health, the Department of Human Services, and other District government departments, agencies, and offices on all matters pertaining to Veterans in the District of Columbia  All meetings are open to the public - please come out and join us!
