Temporary Lane Closures on I-295 Begin Oct 12
(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will
temporarily and alternately close lanes on I-295 over Nicholson Street SE near
the southbound on-ramp and the northbound off-ramp at Pennsylvania Avenue SE beginning
Friday, October 12 at 8:00 pm, weather permitting.
The planned schedule for temporary and alternate closures is as follows, weather permitting:
- Two left lanes on I-295
northbound will be closed starting Friday, October 12 at 8 pm and remain
closed until Saturday, October 13 at 9:00 am. The left lane will remain closed through Saturday at 7:00 pm.
- From Saturday,
October 13 at 7:00 am through
Sunday, October 14 at 7:00 pm, a single lane on I-295 southbound will close.
- From Monday, October 15
through Friday, October 19 nightly from from 8:00 pm – 5:00 am, the left lane will be closed on both I-295
northbound and southbound. The lanes will reopen on
Saturday, October 20 at 5:00 am.
Traffic controls will be
in place to warn drivers approaching the areas and guide them through the construction
area. Motorists should anticipate moderate to heavy delays due to the lane
closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these
locations and to be observant of the work zone.
