Dear Washingtonians,
As the nation’s capital, we host millions of visitors each year. Fortunately, very, very few share the views that will be expressed in Lafayette Park on Sunday, August 12. Washington, DC is a city of love, inclusion, and diversity, and—like millions of Americans across the nation—we know that the people who are coming here to profess hate and sow division are wrong. As a community, we denounce all forms of hate and we denounce the rhetoric that we expect to hear this weekend.
Earlier today, I came together with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, faith and community leaders, and District and Federal officials to give an update on preparations for this weekend. You can watch the update below.
This weekend, and every day going forward, we will ensure that the world knows that no matter how much attention these visitors demand, that they will never represent the values of our city or our nation.
Pledge to stand for our DC values—against hate and
intolerance in any form—and learn more about the events our faith-based partners have planned for this weekend at unitedtolove.dc.gov.
Sincerely,
On Wednesday, September 12, Mayor Bowser will bring together mayors, leaders, and health experts from across the nation at Washington, DC's first-ever Maternal and Infant Health Summit. Together, we will focus on a critical issue that affects women, children, and families in Washington, DC and beyond: infant and maternal health.
Every Monday leading up to the summit, visit Mayor Bowser's Facebook page at 3:00 p.m. to learn more about the summit, and go to dcmaternalhealth.com to RSVP for this important conversation.
