These specialty vehicle plates are now available at all DC DMV locations! Our deepest thanks to a dedicated group of DC women veterans, The Mayor's Office on Women's Policy and Initiatives, and the DC DMV for their work to create an excellent DC Woman Veteran License Plate!
To Obtain a License Plate, You Will Need:
-Proof of military service—a DD 214, WD AGO, or DD 256 form.
-Discharge typed accepted—Honorable, General, and Other Than Honorable.
-DC Driver License.
-DC vehicle registration of the vehicle’s registered owner.
-The $25 application fee and $10 annual display fee shall be deposited in the Office of Veterans Affairs Fund, established by section 705 of the Office of Veterans Affairs Establishment Act of 2001, effective October 3, 2001 (D.C. Law 14-28; D.C. Official Code § 49-1004). This fee will be used to support Women Veteran Initiatives across the District.
- Veterans with a service-connected permanent and total disability, as determined and evidenced in an official letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs, shall not be charged the application fee, registration fee or renewal fee for one set of tags. This does not apply to commercial vehicles.
In recognition of Pride Month, The Mayor's Office of
Veterans Affairs (MOVA) and The Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs are hosting a
DC Veterans LGBTQ Roundtable.We encourage all military veterans who identify as LGBTQ, LGBTQ and other community
activists, medical providers, veterans advocates, and allies to join us! The goal of the
event is to identify and discuss obstacles faced by members of the LGBTQ
veteran community in seeking benefits and services, as well as to hear stories
and examples of how such obstacles have been and can be overcome.
