Dear
Washingtonians,
This Saturday, I hope you will join me at our 2018 Emancipation Day Parade and Concert. Free and open to the public, this year's concert includes performances by Rare Essence, Brandy, Angie Stone, Big Daddy Kane, Allure, Ayre Rayde, and more.
On Emancipation Day, we celebrate the courage
and struggle of all who fought to end slavery and we uplift the voices of modern-day champions who continue the fight for equality. And each year, we use
this historic moment to renew our push for full democracy in Washington, DC. Today, we have a historic 22 co-sponsors in the Senate and 151 co-sponsors in the House
of Representatives for the Washington, DC Admission Act.
Now, we are working to spread our message far and wide - to educate Americans across the country about the disenfranchisement of 700,000 Americans living in the nation's capital. We have repeatedly watched members of Congress threaten and challenge our
local laws, while we continue to be denied voting representation on important issues that
affect our daily lives. Without statehood, the only way we can fight back is with our voice. But we need more; we need a vote.

Sincerely,
