Residences at Hayes Lease Up Meeting
On Monday, February 26th, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), the DC Housing Authority (DCHA) and the team of the development partners for the Residences at Hayes (5201 Hayes Street NE) convened a meeting for the residents of Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings to provide an update on construction progress and leasing at the new building. The building is nearly complete and Pennrose Development will begin accepting applications for residency this spring!
The Residences at Hayes is a newly constructed 150-unit building being developed by The Warrenton Group and Pennrose Development. It will include 50 “Build First” replacement apartments prioritized for families living at Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings. There will be several 3 and 4 bedroom apartments to accommodate large families. “Build First” is an NCI guiding principle that calls for the construction of new housing before the demolition of existing distressed housing. “Build First” is intended to prevent involuntary displacement of families from their neighborhoods as a result of redevelopment efforts.
Homes for Hope, an NCI service provider will provide supportive services to families living at Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings to assist them through the leasing and relocation process. If you are a Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings resident interested in relocating to the Residences at Hayes and need assistance with the application process, contact Elder Williams at Homes for Hope at 202-733-3492. Pennrose Development, the property management company, will also begin accepting applications from the general public for other affordable units later this spring. Go to the Residences at Hayes webpage below and sign up to receive notifications about leasing activities.
