Homes for Hope (HFH) - New Communities Initiative Employment Readiness Program

The HFH-NCI Employment Readiness Program continues to provide job readiness training and services for this grant period. The partnership with DC Department of Employment Services (DOES), supports the HFH-NCI program with meeting the employment needs of the residents of Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings.

Throughout last year, twenty-eight (28) residents participated in the HFH-NCI job club. The services are geared to support the residents with soft skills and other skills needed to maintain employment. Sessions are held on how to follow instructions, accept criticism, and function as a team player by simulating a work environment and role-playing. There are also sessions for both individuals and groups, addressing work-appropriate manners, how to write resumes, how to fill out job applications, and successful interview techniques. We work in harmony with DC DOES, with the goal of motivating residents to sign up for programming and services that will prepare them for long-term employment opportunities.
