DMPED Signs Bruce Monroe Redevelopment LDA

Last month, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) signed the Bruce Monroe Land Disposition Agreement (LDA). This important "Build First" redevelopment will include approximately 273 units, including 201 affordable units, of which 90 will be replacement units for Park Morton residents. In addition to housing, the District will be retaining a portion of the site to build a new, high quality permanent park. The community design process for the park will be co-lead by the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the Department of General Services (DGS), which will kick off later this year.

Upon completion of the entire Park Morton redevelopment, which includes both the Bruce Monroe site and the current Park Morton public housing site, approximately 462 new housing units will be built, and 303 of which will be affordable. Opportunity 360 – A New Resource to Expand Opportunity

Last month, Enterprise Community Partners Inc. launched the Opportunity 360 platform, an interactive tool that allows communities to measure various outcomes at the census tract level. Park & Morton Block Party Was a Big Hit!

NCI has increased its community and resident engagement efforts in Park Morton and the surrounding community over the past few years, and we were excited to celebrate the community during the Park & Morton Block Party held on Saturday, September 23.

The Block Party was planned in collaboration with many local Park View organizations including Georgia Avenue Thrive, Salvation Army and District Bridges. There were 676 attendees from the community and over 30 organizations, local businesses and public agencies were present to share District priorities and join the fun. It was a day full of entertainment featuring Da GoGo Fitness classes, performances by the Model City Steppers and the Dance Institute of Washington, a Lime Light Boxing clinic, DC Reynolds cooking demonstration, water slides, carnival rides, and a Pop-Up Living Room!
