Relocation Activities Continue at Barry Farm

Housing Opportunities Unlimited (HOU) is continuing to work with Barry Farm residents to help guide them through the process of relocating. Counseling services are being provided to help identify housing needs such as family size and neighborhood preferences. Residents are also being referred to resources to address health and other concerns. HOU is located at 1116 Eaton Road SE, and you can get in touch with a relocation representative by phone at 202-350-1535 or 202-525-5778. Ward 8 Works Continues with Workshops

Ward 8 Works (W8W) is a partnership between NCI and more than 30 public and private partners designed to connect Ward 8 residents to construction jobs. When Ward 8 Works was launched in April, a number of participants identified criminal background as a potential barrier to employment. The next event will bring together representatives from the Public Defender Service of the District of Columbia, DC Department of Employment Services, Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs, General Services Administration/St. Elizabeth’s West Campus, and residents who have worked with W8W service providers to get and maintain employment despite background challenges. Current W8W participants should click here to register ahead of the session, which will take place on October 13th from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Barry Farm Recreation Center, 1230 Sumner Road SE.
