Ward 8 Works Continues with the Job-Ready Challenge
Ward 8 Works is a partnership between NCI and more than 30 public and private partners designed to connect Ward 8 residents to construction jobs. Ward 8 Works hosted its second event on August 11, 2017 for over 200 Ward 8 residents who are working to become job-ready for upcoming construction jobs on Ward 8 development projects. At the event, participants broke up into cohort teams to take on the “job-ready” challenge. Cohort teams are designed as support networks that set benchmarks for collective progress, and develop strategies to support participants throughout the challenge. Currently, the Ward 8 Works cohort has 202 participants, connected to 15 service providers who are helping them to become "job-ready." Although many of the jobs won't be available for another six months, some 15 participants have already been hired! For more information, please email Angie Rodgers at angie.rodgers@dc.gov.
