DMPED was in the community often this month most recently on Capitol Hill.
On Feb 16, more than 40 residents dedicated part of their evening to hear the community feedback gathered for redevelopment of the former site of the Eastern Branch Boys and Girls Club at 261 17th St SE.
The site is an “OurRFP” project, a Mayoral Initiative that incorporates community engagement early in the Request for Proposals (RFP) process. Our goal is to ensure that the public’s perspective and priorities are understood in conjunction with the District’s goals when crafting and issuing the RFP for this District-owned parcel.
At two community meetings and in an online engagement forum, DMPED actively solicited feedback on how to shape the future development of this site from residents and community members. The RFP is expected in April. To read more on this project, follow this link.
On Feb. 15, DMPED also held a community meeting about the development of Parking Deck at 2nd and K Sts NW in the Mount Vernon Triangle Neighborhood. At the meeting, developers presented their proposals for the space to the community and to the ANC representatives in attendance. DMPED is in the process reviewing the developer proposals.
In addition, DMPED was at Inspired Teaching Public School on Feb. 2 with the DC Department on General Services to share information with the community on the stabilization and restoration work being done at McMillan Sand Filtration Site. You can read more on the project here.
DMPED appreciates both communities active engagement and interest in the redevelopment of these two properties and all of our projects across the city!
