Skip the Trip summer

DC DMV requires District residents to renew their vehicle registration, for one or two years, either online or by mail. In-person registration renewal is not available. Online vehicle registration renewal is one of more than 55 online services available to the agency's customers. 

Skip the trip and take advantage of DC DMV’s online services that are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day, except the Road Skills Test Appointment Calendar, which is unavailable from 12am-1am. Visit the agency's website and complete your DC DMV business on your schedule. Go to dmv.dc.gov.

All DC DMV Locations Open One Hour Later on Wednesdays

Since March 30, 2016, all DC DMV locations open one hour later every Wednesday to allow the agency to provide consistent training and accurate communication to employees. Closing time remains the same.

DC DMV has been issuing REAL ID driver license and identification cards since May 1, 2014. The agency provides customers with information on how to obtain a REAL ID credential via a PSA on YouTube, as well as detailed information on its website

Adjudication Services is Moving to L'Enfant Plaza

Adjudication Services at L'Enfant Plaza

On Monday, February 13, 2017, DC DMV's Adjudication Services Office will open its doors at 955 L'Enfant Plaza, Suite P-100, SW. The current location at 301 C Street, NW will close permanently at the end of the business day on Friday, Feb. 10th. 

The new office is environmentally-friendly and on track to receive LEED Silver accreditation. Some of the features include water bottle filling stations to reduce plastic waste and individual ceiling units in the hearing rooms to reduce energy consumption. 

The services: obtaining ticket information, paying tickets, scheduling a hearing, and having a walk-in hearing for parking tickets, along with hours of operation, will remain the same:

  • Sunday:       Closed
  • Monday:       8:15am - 4pm
  • Tuesday:      8:15am - 4pm
  • Wednesday: 9:15am - 4pm
  • Thursday:     8:15am - 4pm
  • Friday:          8:15am - 4pm
  • Saturday:     Closed

Ticket, boot, and tow payment services will be available until 5pm. 

DC DMV Will be Closed for Washington's Birthday

In recognition of Washington's Birthday, all DC DMV locations will be closed on Saturday, February 18 and Monday, February 20, 2017. Typically, there is high customer volume before and after the holiday closings, so please plan ahead.
