 FitDC presents...Join Ward 8 for its official ward walk and healthy food demo, with coach Charles Taylor. The Ward Walk will kick off at 9 AM EST at Fort Stanton Recreation Center and will conclude with some healthy snacks at the center. Come out to help Ward 8 win the Billion Steps Challenge!

DCOA Interim Executive Director Brenda Donald will host quarterly roundtable
discussions with seniors at various senior wellness centers throughout the
city. The agency regularly holds these discussions at senior wellness centers
to ensure that seniors have an opportunity to weigh in on issues that directly
impact their lives.

Barbara Cline is
a housing advocate for IONA Senior Services' Citizens Advisory Group. Meet Kris Laurenti, the
special assistant to the senior deputy director of the Community
Health Administration/DC Department of Health. Laurenti is also a past
recipient (2007) of the Cafritz Award for distinguished DC government
employees.
Laurenti lives in one of the
remaining 79,000 DC rent-controlled apartments. This past spring, Laurenti

The
D.C. Office on Aging (DCOA) Ambassador Program is a FREE, interactive,
member-based program designed to reach out to older adults and their caregivers
to help them learn about the services and resources available to them through
DCOA. If you are interested in expanding your network and educating older
adults about the services and resources available to them, join us for our next
Ambassador Training Workshop to learn about all of the programs and services
that DCOA offers to the community and how you can become an Ambassador. All
workshops include an overview of Office on Aging programs and services, information
on how to access resources, and guidance on your role as an advocate.

The
DC Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE) is working to engage
residents and managers of multifamily buildings in a study about energy and
water use. With your help, DDOE hopes to gain better insights into this
practice. This survey is geared toward renters in multifamily
buildings, and is comprised of questions about current energy and water use. It
should only take five to ten minutes to complete.
