Celebrating 50 Years of the Department of Housing and Urban Development
On Thursday, as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) 50th anniversary, I joined HUD Secretary Julián Castro on a walking tour of historic Shaw Neighborhood. The tour was designed to highlight the impact that both federal and local funds can have on producing, protecting and preserving affordable housing, and building inclusive and diverse communities. The Shaw neighborhood is one of several neighborhoods impacted by the DC riots of 1968. It now serves as an example of federal and local partnerships which have spurred revitalization in urban communities.
Helping Local Businesses Succeed
Yesterday, at the Mt. Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District’s (MVTCID) Annual meeting, I shared my vision to support the vital role small businesses play in our local economy. I am excited about the work MVTCID is doing to create economic opportunities for businesses and residents alike.
