YGL Events Committee Opportunities

Interested in being part of the YGL events committee in Washington, D.C.? We're looking to bring on 2-3 new committee members to join our continued efforts to create engaging monthly programming and events for our YGL members. It's a great opportunity to help build a stronger national YGL community while also getting more involved in YGL. Events committee members typically spend about 3-4 hours each month on event planning and coordination, conference calls, attending events, etc. Interested individuals should send a short statement of interest and resume by Wednesday, April 28th to charper@younggov.org.

Public Service Recognition Week 2020 Contest - YGL Wants to Hear from You! 

Now more than ever, we need to recognize the amazing work of our nation's local, county, state, and federal government employees. In the spirit of celebrating PSRW from May 3-9, 2020, we would love to hear from our YGL members on what motivates you to be a public servant. Please take a moment to consider submitting a short 50-100 word statement and share your public service story with the YGL community. Not only will you help inspire others to continue to serve our country, YGL will also select 3 winners to receive a $10 Starbucks gift card as an extra thank you! Check out what's in store for NextGen 2020! NextGen Government Training Summit is July 22-23, 2020. They will be updating the schedule with speakers over the next several months so be sure to sign up for updates so that you receive speaker and session announcements!

You’ll notice the NextGen Summit has a good mix of keynote sessions, workshops, breakout sessions and Office Hours. Here’s what to know about each:

  • Keynotes: Engaging and inspiring presentations from notable speakers from varied backgrounds in the General Ballroom.
  • Workshops: Facilitator-led 1.5-hour deep-dive sessions on a specific topic. All workshops will follow a similar format of lecture, group exercise and sharing insights.
  • Breakout Sessions: 1-hour sessions that will provide an overview and practical takeaways of topics relevant to public servants.
  • Office Hours: 20-minute one-on-one appointments with career experts or financial planners. All attendees are welcome to schedule appointments when they’re made available in the late spring of 2020.
