At the end of last fiscal year, YGL unveiled our new initiative, Resilient We Rise! The idea for Resilient We Rise sprang from the challenges of the government shutdown early this year and the understanding that workforce resiliency is of paramount importance during uncertain times.
The Resilient We Rise programming will officially kick off later this month. Themes are broken down quarterly throughout the year to focus on different areas.
Quarter 1: Goal Setting and Wellness Quarter 2: Volunteerism and Diversity & Inclusion Quarter 3: Networking Quarter 4: Career and Leadership Development
Nominations for the 2020 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals are open!
Submit your nomination for the 2020 Sammies by January 17!
The annual Service to America Medals highlight inspiring stories that demonstrate the positive impact public servants deliver on behalf of the American people. The nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service recognizes more than two dozen individuals and teams who have greatly contributed to the health, safety and prosperity of our country each year. In past years, Sammies honorees have been featured in TIME, The Washington Post, Fox News and other national media coverage, demonstrating the value of our innovative and dedicated federal workforce.
Throughout this holiday season, we need your help to spread cheer! Give the gift of recognition and show your gratitude to high-performing employees or colleagues by nominating them for the 2020 Service to America Medals. In addition to being considered for an award, each nominee will receive a letter thanking them for their service and accomplishments.
A nominee can be new to government or have years of service. They may serve citizens directly or work behind the scenes to make our government better. And, they can serve in any field and work in any part of the country – or even abroad.
The nomination process is easy. Visit servicetoamericamedals.org to start your nomination, find eligibility and selection criteria, learn more about our award categories and read the profiles of past honorees. You can also watch a short video about what makes a strong Sammies nomination.
Nominations are due January 17, but don’t wait until the hectic holiday season is over to submit yours! Start your nomination today and encourage colleagues and friends to do the same. There is no limit to the number of nominations an agency or individual nominator may submit.

A Thank You Message from PARTNERS FOR KIDS IN CARE
Dear Members of Young Government Leaders:
Thanks so much to Young Government Leaders for your wonderful contribution of gifts cards for our annual holiday campaign for kids! The support that we receive from a caring community has a big impact because it helps our children’s wellbeing and supports them as they pursue their aspirations, education and life goals.
Your contribution to our PFK program and our Children’s Donation Center shows just how thoughtful you are about our children’s well-being. Our collaboration helps strengthen support services and increases awareness of healthy growth and development of children and youth in our care.
PFK is continuously thinking of new ways to support CFSA in taking good care of our kids. You’ve stepped right in their path and made a huge impact in the lives of many children and families; for that we are grateful.
Again, thanks.
Sincerely,
Beatrice Williar Program Manager Partners for Kids in Care Website: www.cfsa.dc.gov
