Colorado Government Leaders, spring is here and there is no better time to reevaluate what you can do to prepare yourself for the next step in your career. Technical skills are important but even more important is your ability to create a functional network that can support you and lead you towards your next job opportunity. We have a great opportunity to present that will help you move toward improving your network. There are four people at OPM’s Western Management Development Center who are either enrolled in or have completed their coach training and need additional coaching hours for certification with the International Coach Federation. These folks are happy to provide one on one telephonic coaching to other Federal employees. They usually offer about six one-hour weekly sessions.
If you are interested, please contact Lisa Simon (Lisa.Simon@opm.gov) directly and she will connect you with one of the WMDC coaches.
Please consider taking advantage of this professional development opportunity to enhance your career development and prepare you for your next opportunity.
Even in our increasingly virtual world there is no substitute for focusing on networking and mentoring as the key components for consistent advancement in your career.
Thanks,
Justin Fazzari

Makaya
SEX: Male
BREED: German Short Haired Pointer
WEIGHT: 65 pounds
AFFECTION LEVELS: Moderate
BEST QUALITY: velcro dawg
ADOPTION FEE: $175.00
My name is Makya, and I am totally pleased to meet you! I am a German Shorthaired Pointer, aka GSP……. (not to be confused with GPS!) Don’t you just love all of my freckles? I think they really add to my suave and debonair good looks! So here’s the thing about me. I am a perfect example of Nature vs. Nurture. No, I am not going to go all psycho-babble on you, but I really am an example of this. Even though I probably have a little genetic tendency to be a bit high strung, my 1st family was totally clueless about the GSP breed. Unfortunately, that cluelessness was expressed through totally unnecessary physical abuse. I am not mean at all! I AM a very, very good boy! With my genetic tendency to be a bit anxious coupled with anxiety about my environment and what would happen if I didn’t read their minds and get things right the 1st time…..well, let’s face it, I can be a just a bundle of jangled nerves!
Here is what I can absolutely promise you!
- I will be sweet as can be.
- I love having a predictable routine.
- I get nervous and pant and pace, but I won’t eat anything I am not supposed to.
- I am a total gentleman in the backyard. I won’t bark or try and start “fence fights”.
I still need a little help with housetraining, and I need extra patience with this. If you will please, please, please show me where to do my business, I will do my very, very best to always remember. Just know that if I accidentally “hike in the house”; I am not being nasty or marking my spot. I am probably anxious and just need a reminder of where to go. I am not very good on a leash, but I promise to try and do better. It’s best if I eat at a quiet time, and I like for you to stay around me while I eat…..otherwise, I will gobble it all down so I can find you and be near you. Ummmm, something else, I don’t really know how to play with balls and stuff like that. Rough housing really isn’t a good way to play with me as I just get really amped up. If you will just give me time and show me that I can always trust you to love me and care for me, I promise that I will love you furever, and ever and ever and ever. I will be the most loyal and loving freckle you’ve ever had.

Urban Peak is a homeless shelter for teens. They are required to go to school or have a job. It’s not just a place to sack out, as some would think. We are looking for more volunteers to help provide and serve food the 3rd Wednesday of the month. There are a group of federal employees that get there around 5 and 6 and are usually done by 7. There is no dishwashing or cleanup involved. The teens take care of that. They are always so appreciative of what the volunteers do. It’s a wonderful way to feel like you are making a difference in a young persons life.
The group volunteers at the S. Bannock location. If you are interested in helping please contact Michael Nestlehut Michael.Nestlehut@onrr.gov.
