YOU'RE INVITED TO AN EVENING OF ART, MUSIC, & DANCE
At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds is proud to announce her participation in the Washington Performing Arts Society’s Politics & Arts Jam Session at the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, next Wednesday, March 16, 2016 beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:30pm.
In honor of Women’s History Month, Councilmember Bonds contribution to this collective art and jam session will be a free office open house performance entitled “Women & Youth in Politics”. This performance has been arranged to celebrate political contributions made by women while highlighting political youth advocacy of today’s ‘Hip-Hop Generation' through hip-hop, modern dance and music by women & youth artists.
“Women & Youth in Politics” includes performances by Joy of Motion Dance and will occur from 5:00pm until 6:00pm in Councilmember Bonds Office Suite 110. Lite refreshments will be served.

Dance Selection by Malaika Tate-Scott, Joy of Motion Dance Instructor & Youth Company Director
Malaika Tate-Scott, a Washington, DC, native. She currently teaches hip hop at Joy of Motion Dance Center and is the company director of JOMDC's youth hip hop company Vibe Tribe. She was most recently invited to the White House along with JOMDC’s youth dance company to join legendary choreographers Debbie Allen, Fatima and Judith Jamison for Michelle Obama’s Black History Month Tribute.

Musical Selection by Ja'ness, Duke Ellington Performing Arts Student.
Ja'ness, is a current sophomore at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. She will perform an original piece called "No Yesterday” which is her first hit single on ITunes, that pays tribute to the youth affected by the Baltimore Riots of 2015.

Hip-Hop Dance Selection by Vibe Tribe, Joy of Motion Youth Dance Company
Vibe Tribe, Joy of Motion’s youth dance company will close the show with another high-impact dance selection to the tunes of Grammy-Winning Hip-Hop Artist Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright”. “Alright” is an anthem and tribute to the political youth activism, movements started by the Hip-Hop Generation activists of today!
