CA Secretary of State Voter Registration Email
Today, Sept 24, 2020, the CA Secretary of State issued an email to inform voters on registrations and other logistics using the Granicus govDelivery platform. The email, sent to 1.7 million Californians, had broken links for approximately 30 minutes. Granicus was able to fix the links for all emails sent, without requiring a resend.
The issue arose due to a server upgrade that occurred last weekend. In short, our team missed a DNS change that was required to keep this particular instance working properly. Granicus apologizes deeply for the issue this has caused for the CA Secretary of State and to the citizens of California. It’s important to note this issue was not caused by the Secretary of States’ team, but rather the system configuration. All future emails from this account will work as expected.
We hope that everyone who briefly experienced the broken links will revisit this important email. Granicus customers can direct questions regarding this incident to Scott MacFee, Chief Customer Officer, of Granicus at scott.macfee@granicus.com. Press inquires can be directed to Susan Ganeshan, Chief Marketing Officer, Granicus at susan.ganeshan@granicus.com
