A wide range of factors determine how long and well we live, and county health departments, like the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE), help influence conditions that support healthier communities such as quality of care, social-emotional wellbeing and lifestyle behaviors.
There are approximately 1,900 county health departments in the United States, according to the National Association of Counties. Learn more about the important impact county governments have in providing health services to residents in the infographic below.

Question: I look forward to the Weld County Fair every year and seeing the talent of 4-H and FFA kids along with others in the community. That said, what are some things I can look forward to at this year's fair?
In addition to all the great exhibits, showmanship events and the Junior Livestock Sale every year, something new at the fair this year is a Movie in the Park night on Friday, July 28. The Super Mario Bros Movie will be shown in the South Oval Pavilion of Island Grove Regional Park.
Also, if you didn't get a chance to check out the Working Ranch Cowboys Association Ranch Rodeo last year, it is returning this year on July 30. Of course these are just a couple things planned for this year's fair. For a full list of events (all free to the public) visit www.weldcountyfair.com.

It opened in 2013. Ten years later, the Weld County Regional Forensic Laboratory — also known as the crime lab — continues to make an impact in helping solve crimes throughout Northern Colorado. In the next issue of County Roots, meet those who work in the crime lab and discover how and why it's been a benefit over the past decade.

Welcome to County Roots, the official newsletter of Weld County Government. For those of us who work in county government, we think what we do is pretty interesting. So the goal of this newsletter is to highlight some of the partnerships, technology and efficiencies we are using to make government stronger and more effective for its residents.
Our goal is to establish regular communication with residents, spur interest in county projects, highlight county accomplishments and provide meaningful information to the public. In fact, our goal is to live up to the name “County Roots.” Want to know more about the meaning behind the name? Please visit our webpage, where you can also find previous editions of this newsletter.
If you have a topic idea or general feedback about this new venture, please let us know at jfinch@weldgov.com.
