Weld families, individuals, older adults and those with disabilities who qualify can get financial assistance to pay their heating costs. The Low Energy Assistance Program, known as LEAP, is taking applications through April 30th. Anyone who is struggling to pay their heating bill can apply.

In-person assistance with filling out an application is available on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the Housing Navigation Center located at 2930 11th Ave in Evans. Documentation needed for the application includes utility bills and personal identification. Proof of income received such as pay stubs, award letters, or loans and dates of birth and social security numbers for all household members.

It’s that time of year again! The IRS opened electronic filing at the end of January, and you can file your taxes now. The sooner you file, the sooner you’ll be able to get your Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Tax Credit payments. Get your early start at GetAheadColorado.org.

With your training or experience, you can provide a loving and caring environment for a unique child or youth who needs a consistent and comfortable home to start on the path to wellbeing. We’ll provide you and your family with extensive support services and resources along the way. Medically fragile children require life-sustaining medications, treatments, equipment, access to multiple appointments and/or assistance with daily living activities. Some of the children’s disorders can range from short-term and/or curable conditions to intellectual and developmental disabilities to more serious and possibly terminal illnesses.

Helping our community neighborhood is part of our DNA here at For the City Network/Christ Community Church. January 26th was our 4th Neighborhood Pop-up Resource Event and we were blessed by doing just that—helping our neighbors! People, young and old, from different ethnic groups and languages, found their way to Zoe’s Event Center for this event through invitations sent out by our neighborhood schools.

We hosted almost 20 different agencies and nonprofits of Weld County, ranging from WC Job Service to Leanne’s Closet. It’s exciting to see not only our neighbors responding to the event by finding out what’s available in resources to their families, but we’ve heard many positive things about agencies and nonprofits networking while helping these families.

Neighborhood pop-up resource events are modeled after Bridges of Hope (Rick Hartman). We invited our neighbors to the event where nonprofits and agencies are available to discuss how they can help the families in need. Our volunteers, known as 'Neighbors', lead our guests through the labyrinth of resource tables to find those agencies/nonprofits who can help them. Our hope and prayer is that churches will duplicate these little neighborhood pop-up resource events throughout Greeley/Weld County.
