Child Support Awareness Month

The Weld County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed August as Child Support Awareness Month. The Weld County Child Support Services Program is committed to promoting the financial stability and well-being of its children by providing services that help ensure parents pay child support on a regular and timely basis.

Services provided by the Program include locating parents, establishing paternity, establishing support orders administratively or through court, reviewing support orders for modification, and enforcing orders for medical coverage and monetary support.

In June 2021, the Weld County Child Support Program was awarded the Colorado Family Support Council Outstanding Large County Award. Through June of this year, the county program disbursed over $12 million to families, established 200 new support orders, modified 180 existing orders, and responded to over 7,000 inquiries for assistance.

Foster Closet Serves Local Families and Youth

Weld County foster families have been serving other families and youth in foster care through maintaining a local supplies and clothing closet that other foster and adoptive families in Northern Colorado can access. “We are open to donations of diapers, wipes, and new or gently used clothes (no holes, stains, etc.),” said Maddie, one of the foster parents who donates her time and energy towards this effort.

As we approach winter, donations of new or gently used coats and winter accessories for children and youth would be put to good use.

Contact Maddie at mmpothour@gmail.com for more information and to donate.
