Project Connect

Weld Project Connect 2020

Weld Project Connect will happen this year, BUT we know that it will look very different. The usual event with large in-person meetings face-to-face is not an option this year due to CoVID19 restrictions and safety factors.

The event will be virtual utilizing the 2-1-1 call center with local call specialist handling the calls to get the guest connected with the service they need.  Monday, October 12, will focus on information and education such as library cards, District 6 enrollment, AIMS career assessment, and reading assessment appointments.

Tuesday, October 13, will be health and wellness services such as mammogram vouchers, appointments for TDAP, HEP A, and HIV testing, North Range Behavioral Health, and Women and Children (WIC).

Wednesday, October 14, will be services related to documentation such as veterans services, child support payments, child care assistance, employment services, resumes, appointments for birth certificates, senior services, Medicaid or CHP questions, medical power of attorney, and register to vote.

Thursday, October 15, will be community assistance services which includes emergency preparedness, women’s clothing, housing assistance, Greeley Family House, A Woman’s Place, Jobs of Hope, talk to an attorney, and Connections for Independent Living.

Friday, October 16, at Island Grove Park, there will be a drive-thru that include food boxes, hygiene kit, and Files of Life documentation and diapers if needed. Flu shots will be available from Walgreens. Services are subject to change. The UC Blood Mobile will be available for blood donations on site.

Volunteers are needed in a limited capacity, see if any of these options fit your needs. Sign up today https://volunteer.unitedway-weld.org/need/

Zoom meeting

Faith Collaboration Zoom Workshop – October 7

The Weld Faith Partnership Council will host a Faith Collaboration Zoom Workshop on October 7 at 1:00 p.m. This workshop will spotlight Dad’s Café and Weld Project Connect.

Dad’s Café is based on the Parent Café model and is a physically and emotionally safe space where dads and caregivers can talk about the challenges and victories of raising a family. Cafés are carefully designed, structured discussions that use the principles of adult learning and family support. They are highly sustainable with training reinforcement, institutional support, and a commitment to an approach that engages and affirms parents as leaders. Participants leave Cafés feeling inspired, energized, and excited to put into practice what they have learned. Julie Witkowski, Family Resource Division Head at Weld County Department of Human Services, will make the presentation about Dad’s Café.

Weld Project Connect will take place over five days this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. The first four days will be virtual through 2-1-1, and the last day will offer drive-thru services. Margie Martinez with United Way of Weld County will share information about Weld Project Connect.

If you would like to participate in the Zoom workshop, contact Michael Mathews, pastor of St. Patrick, at michael@saintpatrickpc.org to obtain the Zoom link.

Colorado Spirit Team

North Range Behavioral Health is launching a Colorado Spirit team to assist with COVID issues in our community. The team’s mission is to assist individuals and communities in recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic through provision of virtual community-based outreach and psycho-educational services. Colorado Spirit supports short-term interventions that involve assisting individuals and families in the following ways:

  • Understanding their current situation and reactions
  • Strategies for mitigating stress
  • Developing coping strategies
  • Providing emotional support
  • Encouraging linkages with other individuals and agencies that help survivors in their recovery process

Any individual that has been impacted by COVID 19 can access the services, but understanding that youth and senior populations have been disproportionately impacted by this pandemic, they have Care Specialists that will dedicate their time to those communities. All services are performed virtually via Zoom or telephone and can be accessed via their Warm Line at 970-347-2359.

Candles in a church

Orphan + Stand Sunday

Every year, churches all over the U.S. participate in Orphan + Stand Sunday through Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO). Stand Sunday is scheduled for November 8, 2020.

“This year, we are rallying individuals and churches worldwide to BE THE LIGHT for orphans and foster children. This call has never been more important, as it is always the vulnerable who suffer most when times are hard. Your prayers and acts of service, whether humble or grand, will bring light in a dark place.”

If your church hasn’t yet participated in Stand Sunday, consider making this year the first and joining this national effort to spread awareness and encourage involvement in orphan and foster care. With all the resources and support that CAFO provides, Stand Sunday is an amazing way to become more involved!

Visit https://cafo.org/orphansunday/ and contact Kristy DeAnda, Human Services Recruiter, at fostercare@weldgov.com or 970-400-6849 for more information.
