Great Outdoors Colorado awards Town grant to rebuild parks destroyed by the Marshall Fire
Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) has awarded the Town a $660,000 grant to help rebuild Children’s Park, Big Sagamore Park and Little Sagamore Park, which were destroyed in the Marshall Fire.
Town staff applied for GOCO’s Community Impact Grant earlier this year to close the funding gap and assist the Town in improving the three parks. The GOCO grant will allow the Town to upgrade the parks by implementing more sustainable landscaping, improving accessibility, installing poured-in-place safety surfacing and providing updated playground equipment.
The Town is working closely with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PARC) and residents on the design of all three park sites.

Youth Corps installs garden to attract pollinators
Check out the new pollinator garden along Rock Creek Parkway near Purple Park. Boulder County Youth Corps removed turf and planted native plants to support pollinator habitat. By planting native plants in parks and public landscapes, we are helping meet the goals of our Sustainability Plan.
As the saying goes with native plants, the first year they sleep, the second they creep, and the third year they leap. While the plants are small now, we look forward to enjoying them for years to come! The garden will undergo maintenance in the fall, and volunteers are needed. Interested residents should email Open Space Ranger Tom Keras.
