Re-build Begins for Sagamore and Children's Parks
The Town is selecting a firm to design and re-build parks, playgrounds, walkways, irrigation, lighting, and plant material for Big and Little Sagamore Parks and Children’s Park.
Have an idea? Public engagement is scheduled during the May 17 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PARC) meeting held at Town Hall from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. PARC meetings are currently held in person with a concurrent virtual option. This project aims to replace pre-existing playgrounds, parks, and right-of-way areas.

Share Your Thoughts! Disc Golf Toss & Talk May 19
Join us for an evening of disc golf as the Town looks to make improvements to the disc golf course at Autrey Park. Temporary baskets will be set up within a new course design and we are looking for your feedback! Discs will be provided to those who do not have any.
Friday, May 19, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Autrey Park. (1830 Honey Creek Dr.) You can “toss” in your registration!
Please dress appropriately for weather and be prepared for hilly terrain. Bring sunscreen, snacks, water, and any other personal items you may need.

North and South Pools Open for the Season May 26
Summer fun is right around the corner, and Superior residents have two great options to stay cool! The North Pool (1650 S. Indiana St.) and the South Pool (3300 Huron Peak Ave.) will open for the 2023 summer season on May 26!

Don't Forget to Pick-up or Renew Your SplashPass
Pool admission is free for Superior residents, but a no-cost SplashPass is required for each member of your household (all ages). When you renew or pick up a new SplashPass at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Rd.), you'll receive free Town of Superior swag!(While supplies last, limited quantities are available.)

Punch Buggy is Coming to the South Pool and SCC
Local favorite Punch Buggy is coming to town! Starting May 30, Punch Buggy Shaved Ice Truck will be at the South Pool on Mondays and Tuesdays and at the Superior Community Center on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning May 31. Hours of service are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This will be a reoccurring schedule through August 10.

Free Summer Concert Series Kicks Off June 3
Get ready for a superior summer with the free Summer Concert Series kicking off on June 3! Gather with friends and neighbors for live music, food trucks, and a beer garden (sponsored by Eatery). Concerts take place on select Saturday evenings, 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. at Superior Commons Amphitheater: 2130 Creek View Way in Downtown Superior.

National Trails Day Features Raptors, Reptiles, Carriage Rides and Sweet Cow
Join us at the Coalton Trailhead (3495 McCaslin Blvd.) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, to celebrate National Trails Day! The event will consist of free carriage rides, educational booths sponsored by community groups, live raptors (beginning at 9:15 a.m.) and native reptile programs (beginning at 11:00 a.m.), Sweet Cow for purchase, and of course, plenty of hiking!
Parking will be limited, so be sure to embody the true spirit of the event and take your favorite trail to the event. This is a zero-waste event. We encourage everyone to bring a reusable water bottle to be refilled on-site. Note, times for the live animal presentations are subject to change.

Camps and Activities for Outdoor Summer Fun
Marcelo Balboa Soccer Camp Former US National Team player and National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee Marcelo Balboa and former Head Coach for the Colorado Rapids U23 team Peter Ambrose aim to challenge their participants as well as develop them as team players.

Youth Ultimate Disc Coed Camps from GRUPY GRUPY is a non-profit organization looking to introduce youth to Ultimate Disc, a non-contact, fast-moving sport that utilizes a frisbee, two teams, and two end zones. Using teamwork, teams score points with touchdowns in the end zones. GRUPY is offering youth camps this summer at the new Superior Commons Athletic Field.

Junior Pickleball programs with Kathy Mihelic It’s been said over and over again, but it can’t be understated. Pickleball is a sport on the up right now. And with most growing sports, the number of youth joining the sport is also growing! Kathy Mihelic and her team of coaches look to get your children started in the upcoming sport of Pickleball!

Recreation Tree Climbing with Tree Climbing Colorado Tree Climbing Colorado will show you techniques that cavers and rock climbers use to see a new perspective up high on a tree. All climbing equipment will be provided. Just be sure to wear long pants, boots, and eye protection! Tie in and hoist yourself up for a fun session!

SCC Offers Additional Summer Camp Options
Summer Camps at the SCC (Ages 5 - 12) Various weeks throughout summer 2023: The Superior Community Center offers morning and afternoon camps to keep kids busy and minds engaged! Whether your child is interested in art, chess, robotics, or science, there is something here for every youngster!

The Parks & Rec Advisory Committee Needs YOU
Are you interested in supporting the Town’s parks and recreation programs? The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee has three vacancies waiting to be filled by passionate residents interested in helping support and grow Superior’s parks and recreation services.
Advisory Committee members volunteer to research, explore, and problem-solve to make recommendations in support of our beautiful Town. Those interested can find an application on the Town Advisory Group webpage. Quarterly interviews and appointments will occur in May and June. We hope you’ll join the team!

Superior Snaps Photography Exhibition Coming Soon
We’re gearing up to install the first annual Superior SNAPS photo exhibit at the Superior Community Center! The display will be ready for viewing on Friday, May 26, just in time to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. Be on the lookout for upcoming details for the opening reception to celebrate the amazing collection of hometown pride imagery! The Superior SNAPS exhibit will be on view through September 2023 at the Superior Community Center. (1500 Coalton Rd.)

Who are the creatives in the Town of Superior? If you live or work within the Town of Superior (or currently displaced by the Marshall Fire) and practice in one or more of the following disciplines, consider joining the roster!
Is this you? 3-D arts (sculptures, ceramics, 3-D printing, etc.), Architectural arts, Culinary arts, Dance, Digital arts (computer-generated imagery, digital sound/music, animation, etc.), Fashion design, Fiber arts, Film/media arts, Mural/installation art, Music, Theater, Visual arts (painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, etc.), or Writing/Literature.
The Cultural Arts & Public Spaces (CAPS) Advisory Committee leads several creative projects throughout the Town and community so by tapping into and supporting local talent, you can help with their success!

Historical Commission Celebrates Successful Museum Open House and Historical Walk
The Superior Historical Commission had a wildly successful Open House and Historic Walk event on Saturday, May 6 at the Grasso Bungalow Interim Museum (112 E. William St.)!
The Historical Commission members have worked hard to rebuild their collection thanks to a lot of generous donations. Displays include mining-era artifacts and some unique Marshall Fire pieces. The Grasso Bungalow Interim Museum space will be utilized while a replica of the former museum at Asti Park construction gets underway later this year.
Historical Museum Hours First Saturday of each month: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Superior Community Center News
What's that flag flying at the SCC?
Superior Girl Scout Troop 75930 has won a Silver award, the highest a Cadette troop can earn, for implementing an Environmental Protection Agency Flag Program at the Superior Community Center.
After presenting their project to the Superior Town Board, a 25-foot flagpole was placed in front of the Community Center. The Troop will raise a green, yellow, orange, red, or purple flag to inform residents of the daily Air Quality Index. Thank you, Troop 75930, and congratulations on your award!

Thank You to Our Un-bee-lieveable Volunteers!
Thank you to the nine volunteers who helped create bee habitat and release native, non-stinging bee populations into Community Park on Monday, April 24.
Nine trees were converted to bee habitat and over 150 mason (Blue Orchard) bees were released!
