Colorado native, Jennifer Garner (please call her JG when you meet her), was hired as the new Cultural Arts Supervisor for Superior. She will be working with the Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Committee on a variety of projects and special events, as well as serving alongside the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department.
JG has always had her sights on an art career. She has a bachelor and masters degree in Fine Art and Art History and throughout her education worked with museums and art galleries. That blend of experience and expertise made her a highly sought after candidate in the education sector and soon JG found herself teaching at the university level at the University of Colorado and then ultimately at Metro State University. As tenured faculty at Metro, she taught professional capstone courses to art majors and also served as director at their off-campus art center. From there she went to her most recent post at Denver International Airport as the Cultural Arts Programs Manager in the Arts and Events Department.
The job opportunity in Superior was discovered unexpectedly but she was quickly interested in the possibilities. JG explained, "What really hooked me was the Cultural Arts Master Plan. The dedication to the arts and the cultural offering in the Town is amazing. I wanted to be a part of it." JG beat out several well-qualified applicants to land the job.
JG brings longevity and diversity of experience in cultural arts, academics and creative public arts. She hopes to add all of these assets into the mix to help the Town fulfill its vision for the arts. JG concluded, "This is what I do. This is what I know. This is my language. This is what really gets me excited."

Coyote activity increases in the winter. This means more sightings and potential coyote encounters. Coyote breeding season “officially” occurs January and February but coyotes begin to demonstrate more territorial behavior early to mid-winter as they prepare for pups. Multiple den sites are being scouted and prepared now and territorial boundaries are being marked with scat, urine and vocal displays. Learn more at the Town's Coyote Information webpage.
If you want more of a hands-on learning opportunity, join us for Nature at Night Coyotes with Ashley Delaup. Friday, October 22 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Community Park. REGISTER HERE.

The Flock of Friends: Community Art Project is ready for its next phase....Flight!
These ornamental birds, which have been painted, glazed and fired are ready for pick up the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road). Please come take one of these birds and place it around Town for other people to find and enjoy. The idea is that the birds, 75 in total, will migrate around Town. We need your help to do that. Oh, and one more very important step. Once you find a spot for your bird, please take a photo and post it to social media using the hashtag #superiorcolorado. This will help us locate the birds when the project is complete. Questions? Contact CAPS at CAPS@superiorcolorado.gov.
And for those of you who completed the smaller birds for you to keep, those are now ready for pick up, too. Come by the community center front desk to claim your bird.
