Understanding Accessibility - House Bill 21-1110 with Amy Walldorf, Allyant
HB 21-1110 mandates that all Colorado government websites and digital content be accessible to individuals with disabilities. This workshop will offer an overview of the legislation, and aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure their digital content meets Colorado accessibility standards.

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Cybersecurity Threats Toolkit

CISA has a toolkit that is available online to help governments large and small to help bolster their cybersecurity programs. This Toolkit provides a summary of steps to make both near-term and enduring progress to maintain the trust that every American places in their local government. The toolkit covers three recommendations:

• Invest in the Most Impactful Security Measures
• Recognize and Actively Address Resource Constraints
• Focus on Collaboration and Information Sharing

When Does an Image [Not] Need Alt Text

You've most likely heard that images need to have alternative text, but do you know when images should not get alt text?

Images should not be given alternative text when they are purely decorative – that is, when the image provides no information and serves only an aesthetic purpose. In this case, you should either mark the image as “decorative”, if your platform allows this option or simply leave the field blank if it does not.

If you're not sure whether an image is decorative, take a look at the Alt Text Decision Tree, provided by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative.
