Project Updates
The team completed the Enterprise Shared Services Platform (ESSP) eFORT migration on June 9. The migration was successful and is the last major migration from the eFORT Data Center within this project's scope.
With that migration complete, only 54 of the original 145 racks remain occupied in the eFORT Data Center. The team is on track to complete migration work before the eFORT Data Center lease ends in January 2025.
Way to go, team!
Stay tuned to future editions for more updates on the progress of the eFORT relocation project.
With the migration of the mainframe to the vendor-hosted environment completed, the team is now focused on modernizing and improving several critical applications. Modernization and improvement include incorporating IT Service Management (ITSM) into the new mainframe environment, leading to a better customer experience for our agency partners. We will also be one step closer to ensuring Coloradans will continue receiving life-sustaining benefits and support from our agency partners while setting the foundation for a modern, cost-effective, agile digital government in Colorado.
The OIT and Google technical teams are working together to ensure that the secure file transfer process works correctly. CDHS will soon begin user acceptance testing (UAT).
The project is approximately 88% complete and is expected to be completed before the end of 2024.

Technical debt is the cost of maintaining legacy technology - a challenge faced by both the public and private sectors. The state has an estimated $465 million in tech debt—the cost of equipment and staff time to keep unsupported and insecure older technology running to deliver services—stemming from aging infrastructure, end-of-life applications and systems with security vulnerabilities. When it isn’t addressed, the consequences can be severe, and its impacts stretch across organizations. |
