Welcome
The Colorado Broadband Office (CBO) leads the statewide effort to expand broadband coverage and quality for Coloradans and coordinates all broadband efforts for Colorado.
The CBO is growing! We’re happy to welcome many new employees this month. With their help, we’ll move closer to achieving our goal of connecting 99% of Colorado households to high-speed broadband by Dec. 31, 2027.

Please remember that Letters Of Intent (LOIs)s to apply for Advance Colorado Broadband grants are due to the CBO on July 18. If you missed the LOI webinars, you can find the presentations and recordings on our website.
Visit the Advance Colorado Broadband website or follow us on Twitter @CO_Broadband for more information and resources.
The CBO would like to thank our partners who responded to our survey assessing broadband needs in local governments and our community organizations—we had over 200 responses! We will incorporate your feedback as we continue to develop our plan. Thanks again for your support!
The Broadband Data team is collecting broadband service availability data depicting service as of June 30, 2022. Our Fall 2022 Data Cycle opened up on July 6 and we will continue to accept data submissions from internet service providers (ISPs) until Sept. 2. Our team works closely with ISPs to ensure that we obtain accurate data. ISP-submitted data is processed then aggregated into a single statewide dataset to show broadband availability in the Colorado Broadband Map.
Please note that ISPs who participate or intend to participate in any State of Colorado funding programs are required to submit data, though we encourage all ISPs to participate.
Learn How to Submit Data
Join us on Wednesday, July 13 at 1 p.m. for the first webinar of our Broadband Data & Mapping Webinar Series, which will focus on helping ISPs prepare for and participate in our data collection process. Register for the Broadband Data Collection Webinar
Visit our website for data specifications and submission instructions:

Adam Nazarian
GIS Technician, Broadband Data Program
Colorado Broadband Office
Tell us about your role at the CBO.
“I assist the CBO in mapping efforts to provide accurate data on broadband coverage within the state of Colorado. I was driven to get involved with this effort as I have done field work in rural communities and had to spend 25% of a workday commuting to a stable internet connection to upload my mapping data.”
How did you get here?
“I am new to the CBO. My previous experience was field and back office mapping of infrastructure and remediation/monitoring of groundwater/soil. I was led to this role after doing mapping of both underground and overhead communication lines and realizing how complex the underlying systems are.”
What do you like most about your job?
“Receiving and processing data in areas of Colorado where I have previously done field work reminds of my time spent in those communities and the folks we are serving.”
How do you like to spend your time when you aren’t working?
“Hiking (especially during the winter when the trails are less crowded and you can go to frozen waterfalls/lakes). Biking around town. Being out in nature.”
What is one food that you cannot resist?
“Egg and potato breakfast burrito, smothered.”

FCC Broadband Data Collection Challenge Process
The Broadband Data Team is also actively preparing for the upcoming challenge processes for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Broadband Data Collection (BDC). The new FCC BDC is underway with data submissions due Sept. 1. This new data collection will result in more accurate national broadband maps by collecting more granular data from ISPs and overlaying that data with a nationwide dataset called the Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric (“Fabric”).
The FCC will accept two types of challenges to the data:
- Challenges to the location data in the Fabric
- Challenges to the accuracy of the availability data (fixed and/or mobile)
A bulk Fabric challenge process will open in early September for service providers, governments and other entities and organizations. Individual consumer challenges to the Fabric, availability data and bulk challenges to the availability data will open upon the release of the maps in the fall.
To prepare for this process, we are reviewing the data specifications, identifying areas in Colorado that may warrant challenges and identifying data to support challenges. Please reach out to oit_BroadbandData@state.co.us if you have questions about how your organization can prepare for the challenge processes.
