Comcast Fiber Optic Project Work in Gypsum
1-23-23 Update

  • New area of Town is now serviceable. One new residential area has moved from BLUE to GREEN on the map. The following streets and surrounding areas are now serviceable:

– Bird Ave.
– Railroad Ave.
– 1st St. (between Eagle St. and Railroad Ave.)
– 2nd St. (between Eagle St. and Railroad Ave.)
– Eagle St. (between 1st St. and Hwy 6)

  • One commercial area is moving back to RED due to underground construction requirements. The area north of Hwy 6 between Schoolside St. and Green Way is moving back to the RED phase on the map. This area still requires some underground work to complete the network connections, and that construction cannot occur until the Spring when ground conditions improve.
  • For newly GREEN Areas:  When an area on the map changes to GREEN, this indicates that the backbone network is available in the area, it has been tested, and is ready for residential and business connections. However, if the business or residence is more than 150 feet from the network infrastructure, additional construction may be required to complete the connection and install services. Due to seasonal weather impacts and the potential for property damage, this installation work may have to wait until the Spring.

    - If you’re seeking service at a residence, please call 1 (800) XFINITY (934-6489) for more information.

    - If you’re a local business, please contact local Comcast Business representative and Gypsum resident, Tim Shannon at Timothy_Shannon@cable.comcast.com or (970) 401-1023.

    - If you have questions about installing and burying a Comcast service line on private property, please contact Andy Starrett at astarrett@takcommunications.com at (605) 799-7924.

  • Comcast Fiber Optic Project seasonal construction wind down. Due to weather, temperatures, and for the safety of the crews, underground and aerial construction work relevant to the project will be completed only as weather permits. Future project updates will be sent out only when new areas become serviceable or when we have significant changes to the map. We anticipate monthly updates through the Winter.

  • Crews have completed over 90% of the network construction throughout the Town. A small number of areas still require some underground network construction, and crews will complete this remaining underground work in the Spring as soon as the weather permits.

  • Customer installations requiring underground work have largely stopped for the winter. Installation work that requires a hard surface crossing (such as driveway crossings) will most likely need to wait until Spring to avoid property and utility damage. We will be reaching out to the impacted addresses directly to make them aware of their status and provide estimates for when installations requiring underground work might resume.

  • MAP LEGEND REMINDER
RED indicates that work has not started, prior work has yet to resume, or work has stopped due to weather.
ORANGE indicates locate and construction work in process.
BLUE indicates network connection work (placing pedestals, pulling fiber through placed conduit, and connecting new lines to the Comcast network) and in some cases, locate work.
GREEN indicates that work and restoration is complete, and homes and businesses may sign up for Comcast service.
LIGHT GREEN outline indicates aerial (above ground) work.
