Keep Safe with these Tips for Gas Stove Use
One out of every three homes cook with a gas stove in the US. The City of Englewood is dedicated to resident safety, producing an educational flyer to help inform families on proper ventilation steps to follow when utilizing a gas stove, such as:
- Open a window while cooking
- Cook on the back burners
- Opt to use other electric appliances such as a toaster oven or kettle
- Consider replacing a natural gas stove with an electric one

New Solar Streetlights in Englewood!
The Belleview Park community reached out to the Parks Division with concerns about safety in the area after an incident occurred in the neighborhood. Parks staff met with the neighbors and agreed that increasing the lighting could help deter some of the unwanted activity in the area. Staff researched various methods of lighting and determined the most efficient and effective way to increase lighting would be to install solar lights. During the last week of January, park crews installed the first solar light along the path that runs through the park. Staff will determine in early February the spread of light from the installed pole at night and install an additional five lights in the area. This is a pilot program and if successful, solar lighting could be installed in other parks throughout the City. |
