Oxford Ave. Sinkhole Update 👷
After further investigation, it has been discovered that the damage to the 87” diameter stormwater pipeline beneath Oxford Avenue was more extensive than originally thought. The damaged segment of pipe extends beneath the adjacent retaining wall closer to the Oxford Station apartments building. This requires a 108" diameter casing pipe to be bored beneath the retaining wall to protect the wall and building from damage during the repair.
The previous 87” diameter, corrugated metal pipe will be replaced with a stronger reinforced concrete pipe of the same diameter installed through the new casing pipe. Due to the large diameter of the casing pipe needed, a custom steel casing pipe must be fabricated to surround the new concrete pipe for added structural integrity as it travels below the adjacent retaining wall. Manufacturing time for this custom pipe material, as well as continuing rainstorms, have contributed to the delay of construction.
The pipe is scheduled to be delivered the week of July 24, and the repair work is currently estimated to be complete by mid-August. This repair project is very high-priority, and the city and its contractor are working as quickly as possible to secure the necessary pipe materials, complete the repair and restore access to the roads.

The Emerald Ash Borer is Here 😥
In June, Arapahoe County identified its first case of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive insect that infests and kills North American species of ash trees. The case was detected in a small area in northeast Littleton and was confirmed by Arapahoe County agencies, Colorado State University Extension specialists and experts from surrounding municipalities.
Ash trees comprise approximately 15% of Colorado's urban forest, and it is estimated that there are 20,000 ash trees in the City of Englewood.
Not sure what you can do?
- Determine if you have an ash tree on your property.
- Educate yourself and others about the threat from Emerald Ash Borer.
- Decide if tree removal or treatment is right for you.
- Apply for the City of Englewood’s EAB Subsidy Program.
- Only plant non-ash trees on your property.

Terry Johnson, 48
"I grew up in California, but I came out to Colorado to get away from some bad people in my life. I moved here with my daughter and her mother.
I was hooked on meth. It was all I wanted, all day every day. I had 13 teeth pulled at once as a result. My life spiraled out of control.
It started in California. A guy I knew offered me some, I tried it, and I was just hooked. I used to race bikes, work as a house painter, and take care of my mom. I ruined all of that with meth.
I came out here and I wanted to do better, but I was always high. I didn’t know anyone or anything. I ended up homeless."
